Lorée Cane
Marion Cane
Marion LLC. grown in Grimaud, these cane fields are a few kilometers from the Rigotti cane fields in Cogolin, France. The roots of the Marion canes were planted in their reed beds long ago and have multiplied over time in the soil. This cane has a dark golden color and smooth texture with some marbling.
It is a medium hard to hard cane with thick walls, tight vascular bundles and dense in weight producing a warm, rich and focused sound. The gouge on the harder Marion cane is slightly adjusted towards thinner than standard to help facilitate vibrancy (i.e., oboe gouged cane center about 0.02mm thinner). Excellent cane choice for all climates and elevations. Available as gouged and shaped.
Pisoni Cane
Pisoni (Luciano Pisoni) this quality cane comes from select reed cane fields located in the Var Region of Southern France, about 20 km from Saint-Tropez. Cane is quite consistent and golden brown in color, smooth and even texture, slight marbling and a density that is medium hard to hard producing a much focused sounding reed with a decent life span.
The gouge on the harder Pisoni cane is slightly adjusted towards thinner than standard to help facilitate vibrancy (i.e., oboe gouged cane center about 0.02mm thinner).
Rigotti Cane
Rigotti (ETS Rigotti) has established a reputation as one of the highest quality reed cane growers and producers with several cane fields by the Provencal village of Cogolin, in the Var Region of Southern France, which is well known for producing superior reed cane.
Here, the cane grows alongside rivers and brooks that flow to the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. This is a consistent cane that is medium gold in color, smooth texture with a density that is medium to medium hard producing a rich tone.
Var Supérieure Cane
Var Supérieure™ is hand selected premium cane from long standing heritage reed cane fields located in the French southern Var region (Bormes-les-Mimosas, Le Lavandou and select coastal cane fields 20 km from St. Tropez).
These are a consistent cane that has a golden color with light marbling, smooth and even texture with a density that is medium to medium hard producing a rich tone - it is sought after for its dense, dark and intense focused sound, very stable and lasting reeds. Cane tubes selected for processing have a wall thickness of 1.55mm-1.65mm, +/- 0.05mm.
